Spanair commence bankruptcy proceedings. Spanair cancelled all flights last night after 10pm and have stopped all operations from 2am this morning. If anyone has any flights booked in the future please click here.

Spanair recruited over 2000 people and has an annual turnover of 600 million euros. The company has now asked other airlines to help so that its passengers can either get home or to their destination.

The reason for this action is that the airline currently has losses of over 100 million euros and is struggling to find a viable finance package to continue operations.

Spanair had tried to find a buyer, however the only airline interested was Qatar airways and the talks with them fell through. Because of this the Catalan regional government decided to stop subsidising the airline as it had done before.
